Upon starting this discussion, I am still very new to this forum. I live in Akron, Ohio, and I own a 1995 Saturn SL2 with almost 180k miles. It is the car pictured in the group icon. The car still purrs and it took all this time before the clutch went out. I'm pleased when I know that a car can go nearly 200k miles before needing any major work.

I figured having a discussion group like this may come in handy if other people from Ohio may need or want to offer help to the local area. Use this discussion forum to introduce yourself and feel free to start other discussions as well.

Mike, so you're from Akron. So am I. Is that something to be proud of or
ashamed of? Still trying to decide that one. We just bought a '99 SL2 for
my teenage son. Figured that due to the composite body panels, it would
be easier to deal with in parking lots. Not to mention the apparent ease
of maintenance and handling. This one has/had a few issues, but we got
it for a good price. The kid has to learn cars and it may as well be one
with a good reputation. After dealing with trucks and SUVs, the gas mileage
this SL2 gets is incredible. I may just park my truck and get another Saturn.
Good idea - a group for Buckeyes. No one understands Buckeyes but other
Buckeyes.

Wow! This group is stagnant. Maybe it will improve. Name it Terry. I'm a senior citizen and have owned too many automobiles in my lifetime. Prior to purchasing and owning my first Saturn the vehicles I owned Chevrolet, Ford, VW and Plymoouth.

June 1999: I'd been hearing good things about Saturn. I stopped at Chapel Hill Saturn, Akron. After 2 test drives and 1 week later I was driving home in my new Saturn. Over 14 years I've racked up 262,658 miles.

A compression test showed little compression on cylinder 3.

I found another Saturn on AutoTrader. A bright yellow 2001 SC2 with less than 127k miles on the odometer for $1900.

Earlier this year I found richpin06a on youtube and learned that mechanical repair on my Saturn wasn't as difficult as I had convinced myself it was. So I am saving some $$$ now.

@hooked2u I agree that this place has been very empty and have been hoping for some more activity. I Would be very interested in a meet and going for a drive. I am pretty new to this forum however when i lived with my parents We were Part of north american motoring (N.A.M.) with our mini coopers. I now Live else where and have my little Saturn (which seems huge next to the mini) and went too look for a group to join but it seems that there isn't the following like there used to (maybe because they are all falling apart). I would really like to get things rolling again and get a group together. I am currently residing Near Dayton Ohio so if anyone wants to plan something let me know. It is a shame that things aren't doing so well currently considering how great the cars are.

Cincinnati Ohio here! Just purchased a 2003 Vue with 144,000 miles 5 speed 2.2L 4 banger! Cleaned it up real nice, threw some 20 inch feet on it, running a 15" Planet Audio sub at 2 ohms with a 2500 watt Razr Power Acoustik amp. I ABSOLUTELY love this Vue! Its a great vehicle as I've owned 3 other Saturn cars in the past. Glad to be a part of the group and community as I'm driving towards lowering my Vue and doing some other mods. Also trying to start a Car Club for anyone that has a car or truck, bike, ect.. Thanks again for letting me be a part of the group!
