Ray Wert from Jalopnik: The next-generation 2010 Opel Astra, otherwise known as the 2010 Vauxhall Astra and sometimes going by the name 2011 Saturn Astra (if Saturn survives), was spotted completely undisguised in Germany outside GM's testing facilities. The revised Astra is scheduled to go on sale at the end of this year and although a styling prototype, the vehicle caught in the camera viewfinder clearly shows off the Astra's new lines on the outside.

New detailed artist renderings of the next-generation Saturn Astra have been posted by Motor Authority. The sketches are based on a prototype seen undergoing testing at the Nurburgring.

Opel released another teaser of it's upcoming 10th-generation Astra. A thinly veiled cover is all that separates the car from full view, but it can't hide the vehicle's sinister looking headlamps. Opel's goal is to generate interest about the new car while keeping the as much of it concealed as possible.

Leftlane News has amassed a rather sizable collection of next-generation Astra spy photos. At this point though, automotive blog reports that there is "no word on when the next Saturn Astra will hit U.S. shores." We do know, however, that GM will build the compact hatchback somewhere in North America to avoid suffering from any adverse changes in the exchange rate.

The next generation Opel and Vauxhall Astra will receive its premiere at next year's Frankfurt Show, delivering a compelling mix of technical innovation and groundbreaking design that promises to raise the bar in the compact sector. Following suit, the North American-built Saturn Astra is expected to make its debut about a year later.

Motor Authority reports by way of Auto Motor und Sport that GM plans to build the next-generation Saturn Astra in the United States. In an article discussing the future production plans for the Opel Astra, the website wrote that the new Astra "will be available in coupe, three and five-door hatchbacks and wagon, and possibly a sedan, and is expected to first go on sale in Europe in early 2010."

LeftlaneNews.com reports that Saturn is continuing to put its next-generation Aura through its paces, even though the company has said that it will be keeping the current Aura in its lineup for another three or four years due to budgetary issues. However, several sources – including Leftlane – have said the car's delay is not only the result of corporate-wide cost-cutting initiatives. Saturn reportedly wants to launch the car with an impressive batch of new fuel-efficient powerplants that are still a couple years away.

The folks at WorldCarFans.com have some impressive video of the next-generation Opel Astra zooming around the world-famous Nürburgring track in Germany. Opel Astra is expected to make its debut at the Geneva Auto Show with the Saturn version unveiled shortly thereafter as a 2010 or 2011 model.

Leftlane News has spy photos of the upcoming Opel Insignia hatchback, which is expected to be unveiled this summer in London. While the Insignia sedan will be built in the U.S. and sold in North America as the Saturn Aura, industry analysts don't expect this model to make its way onto our shores, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

Drive, an Australian online motoring magazine, has a sneak peak at what they think the next-generation Astra will look like. Due in 2009 and sold by Holden in the land down under, Saturn's version is expected to go on sale in North America a year later. According to the article, the new car will feature "sexier looks, sportier handling, and fuel-efficient engines."
