Have You Experienced the Ignition Switch Issue?
We're interested in talking to owners of 2003-2007 Saturn Ions who have had their ignition replaced or have experienced the engine shutoff problems. In addition, according the NBC News, there were also about 500 people in the country who were given one of the plastic plugs (shown above) a few years ago to put into their key ring from GM. Has Your Saturn Been Recalled?
With a several General Motors recalls underway - especially ones for the Saturn Ion, Outlook, and Sky - I've received emails from quite a few folks who are concerned that their vehicles might be impacted. If you haven't received a letter in the mail from GM and you are worried, General Motors has set up an online database that's searchable by VIN.
General Motors Ignition Switch Recall Notice Being Sent to Saturn Ion and Sky Owners
SaturnFans.com has obtained a copy of the letter being sent out to Ion owners impacted by the ignition switch recall. The bottom line: replacement parts are not available and if you have to drive your car make sure you remove the key fob and any other keys to eliminate any excess weight on the ignition key.
GM Recalling 2008-2010 Saturn Outlooks
General Motors announced today it is recalling 1.18 million of its Lambda-based large crossover sport-utility vehicles, including: Saturn Outlooks from the 2008-2010 model years, Buick Enclaves and GMC Acadias from the 2008-2013 model years, and Chevrolet Traverses from the 2009-2013 model years.
Saturn Ion and Sky Now Included in GM's Faulty Ignition Switch Recall
General Motors is expanding the recall of certain 2003-2007 model year vehicles to correct a condition with the ignition switch that may allow the key to unintentionally move or switch to the "accessory" or "off" position, turning off the engine and most of the electrical components on the vehicle.
Saturn Outlooks Recalled Due to Faulty Heated Windshield Washer Fluid System, GM to Reimburse Owners for Removing Feature
General Motors is recalling 1.5 million 2007-09 model cars, trucks, and crossovers to disable a heated washer fluid system (HWFS) module that could pose a fire risk. Because the feature will be disabled, GM will make a voluntary payment of $100 to the owner or lessee of each vehicle. There are no known injuries or crashes related to the condition.
Some 2006-07 Saturn Ions Recalled
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2006 Saturn Ion vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of Arizon and Nevada. Model year 2007 Ions originally sold or currently registered in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas are also impacted by the campaign.
Retailers Often had Personal Connection to Saturn
Heather Stauffer from the Sentinel: John Sutliff's family has had a good run with Saturn, and he said Monday that even news General Motors is closing down the brand won't entirely change that. Sutliff said Saturn was "wildly successful" in central Pennsylvania, with the five area dealerships delivering more than 48,000 new Saturns since 1991.
