99 dohc 150k oil ring stuck with carbon buildup, carbon is present between two compression rings too. because of the oil passing the rings the cyl still has the hone marks and piston show no wear.

machinest described rings function as

bottom oil ring wipes bulk of oil off cylinder,

spacer allows second ring to remove remaining oil from cylinder and moves through the ribbed spacer to slots in ring grove.



if hole were in ring grove oil could pass into center of piston down to sump.
