Long before the current financial crisis and virtual collapse of the U.S. auto market that led General Motors to rethink its vehicle lineup, the company was believed to be working on the development of the next-generation Saturn Aura midsize sedan.

The Chinese version of the Buick Regal (pictured above) is expected to be built and sold in North America. This vehicle is based on the award-winning Opel Insignia and was originally going to be sold here as the Saturn Aura. Click here for more photos.
Flashback Friday: 1992 Business Week Cover Story

This August 17, 1992 issue of Business Week recognized Saturn as a rare success for General Motors. "As foreign rivals continue to flood the market with new models, Saturn is meeting them head on," wrote the magazine. "Almost overnight, Saturn has become the highest-quality American-made brand, with as few defects as Hondas and Nissans."
Flashback Friday: 1994 Saturn Cycling Calendar

Saturn has long been a big proponent of an active lifestyle. Today, you'll find Saturn supporting marathons all over the country, but years ago Saturn sponsored a cycling team. According to the 1994 Saturn Cycling Calendar (cover pictured above), the team originally "came together in 1992" and was made up of "a collection of young amateur cyclists from around the country." By then end of their first year in competition, the team "competed in more than 100 races and compiled 53 wins."
MotorAuthority: Saturn Vue "Hyline" Concept Hybrid Bound for SEMA Show

Automotive enthusiast site MotorAuthority reports that Saturn will showcase a hybrid Vue concept called "Hyline" at the upcoming Specialty Equipment Manufacturing Associate (SEMA) auto show later this week. According to the website, the Saturn Vue Hyline was developed in conjunction with Sound Choice and Performance.
