You may remember reading a report on SaturnFans.com last month about Saturn removing its catchy "Green Line" label from its hybrid vehicles beginning with its 2009 model year vehicles. Well, the Detroit Free Press published a story about the same topic earlier today, but added an interesting point that makes it worthwhile to revisit the subject again: Saturn will soon offer more types of hybrids than any other automaker.

Fabulous! Winner of 'Project Runway 5' Will Receive a 2009 Saturn Vue Hybrid

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn in Project Runway

My wife is so excited! One of her favorite television shows, Project Runway, is set to return for its fifth season tonight on NBC's Bravo cable network. She's been a huge fan since the show began, and admittedly, as a result of some good product placement, I am now too. You see Saturn is a huge sponsor and supporter of Project Runway. Up until a day or two ago, things had been pretty quiet about the upcoming season, but the show's fans – including my wife – have been counting down the days to the start of Season 5... much like how Saturn fans look forward to the launch of a new model.

"The Chevy Volt is about to go into hiding," wrote the paper. David Thomas over at Cars.com's Kicking Tires blog reported yesterday that Saturn plans to drop the "Green Line" moniker and logo from its hybrid vehicles for 2009. Instead, the Aura and Vue hybrids will just be called, well, "Hybrids." The change is an attempt to simplify Saturn's nomenclature in order to make easier for folks who were not familiar with Saturn terminology to recognize a Saturn hybrid when they see one.
