Default President's Day Commercial

Has anyone seen the President's Day Commercial Saturn has? I'm assuming it was creating by the new company Saturn hired for its marketing, because its actually CATCHY! I saw it tonight while on Fox. The commerical starts with a male voice saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the president of the United States." As he is saying that, A Berry Red XR drives across the screen, does a frontal shot, then leads into the rest of the 30-second commerical.

I think maybe you have to see it to get it, but I'm with you...

President's Day isn't until Feb 19th... They skipped Valentine's day! We're so in love with our Saturns, how could they miss that opportunity? Dude buys his girl a new SKY for V-day, she loves it, dumps him, goes on a road trip with her new boy toy. Oh, wait, that wouldn't be good. I guess that's why I am a software geek and not an advert maker.

Ya, it prolly doesn't make sense based off my crude explanation of the commercial. If you happen to see it though, it would make a little more sense. The commercial is funny because of the way the Aura is introduced as the President of the United States.

Yeah, I saw the commercial while I was watching House, M.D. At first I thought it was an Aura commercial, but then I started seeing other cars. It was about this same time that I realized the commercial looked kinda cheap.

I really like the Aura commercial with the guitar music and the guy driving on the test track. I like the Aura commercial with the same woman driving the three different cars. I just wish Saturn would come out with a real style and class commercial, like I see for Acura or Lexus. They should stop trying to appeal to middle america, and try to appeal to what the average american wants to be (i.e. well off, good looking, stylish).

I have not seen the TV commercial yet but the Saturn Corp website now has a wide range of limited time financing and cash incentives posted as Saturn's Presidents Day Sale. At least the marketing effort appears to be coordinated across different types of media. That in itself is progress IMO.

I have been in Europe the last few days and I have seen a TREMENDOUS amount of commercials for the Saturn equivalents. These are great ads. Cars flipping off of buildings, through flaming hoops, kids imitating their parents... They are on ALL THE TIME and they are catchy ads. They show the cars at great angles and make you think of fun and performance.

Once you see what GM is doing elsewhere with these same cars, you know how small the budget is or how poorly done the ads are for Saturn.

Its all OK now. Saturn just changed its ad agency.... perhaps even as you were watching Opels "flip off buildings" in Europe.

Just stating that I have seen more ads in a week than I have seen in the last six months back home. Knowing what ads cost in both countries, I think it is a fair statement. The other key point is there are new Vauxhalls everywhere I look (by the way, the Aura is a nicer looking car on the outside than the Vauxhall). They are running a lot of ads that are catchy and there are a lot of cars on the road. I simply wanted to point out that here there are lots of both and back home there is little of either. Others can decide if this is a coincidence.

Why would it be a matter of coincidence? I think it is a matter of budget. I have never understood why Saturn has traditionally underbudgeted their advertising. Given that it has gone on for years both corporately and locally at retailers, it can't be coincidence and most likely is policy. I would very much like to know why when sales numbers could have used a boost since 1994.

I think I saw a GMC ad with a similar theme.

It's a better commercial than what we're used to for Saturn, but it's not great. Still waiting for "that ad."

Isn't the President's Day Sale campaign being used by most of the GM brands? I saw an internet ad yesterday for some regional Chevy dealers with the same Presidents Day circular logo except for the fact that a bowtie was used in place of the Saturn symbol.

Isn't it just a funked up version of the presidential "theme song"?
