1999 Saturn sl2 automatic 94000 miles
In the last couple of months I have noticed a new sort of buzzy vibration from my engine. Not really a vibration as much as a feel. The car runs fine ,no clangs or bangs or shaking, just the slight smooth buzzy sensation throughout the whole car. Do engine mounts have this sort of feel as they wear out? Not sure if this is a real problem or just part of the aging process.

My '92 SL2 had about 100k miles on it when the upper engine mount had basically failed (2nd time in 14 years). There was significant metal-to-metal contact as the rubber isolator had split/collapsed. The engine sat about 3/4 inch lower than normal on that side. This caused excessive engine vibration to transmit to vehicle body. After replacement with the new engine mount the "buzz" or vibration in the dashboard, A-pillars and door panels vanished.
Replacement was a easy as you just need to carefully support the engine block/transmission from underneath with a jack /piece of lumber while you R&R the upper mount. It can be done in about 30 minutes.

I know exactly what you are talking about. The upper engine mount should take care of your problems, it did for me.

I agree with the above posts. At above 90K, your top mount is probably roast. The Wolfman posted a very thorough walk-through on changing the top mount, you can probably do a search on it.

And you can actually test your old installed unit, by using these measurements
>>> Picture of Upper Engine Mount, and a way to measure / determine if it is "failing". >Here< ... > 95 SL 2 = 649,619 Miles 40.4 MPG, as of 4/19/11. My manual Radiator Fan Switch, courtesy of Wolfman's patient installation guidance, continues to be.......invaluable <
