Default Exhaust ideas

im thinking of getting the exhaust fabbed up for my coupe this weekend, but im unsure if what to do. i have two ideas...

1) side-exit. pure and simple. connects to the cat, one 45 or 90 degree turn, and im done.

or

2)i have two mufflers sitting around from my Suby days.... one is a Apex'i N1, the other is Blitz NuR-Spec. both have a 2.5" inlet and 4" tip, but the angle i need for the N1 look to come off right, i dont think i can do with the bumper....

what do you guys think?

I know what you're saying about angle; I'm running SPS pipes back to a canister muffler, but I didn't want it coming straight out, so I ordered a 45degree bend from a shop online and had that welded to the muffler. since mufflers on S series tend to hang too low for my tastes, I cut out the bumper cover a bit and trimmed out the tin work underneath and fabbed my own hanger. here's a picture:

i plan to get two mufflers of N1 style connected to SPS cat-back and have the local exhaust shop professionally install them in dual-outlet. a place like meineke (the muffler shop nearest me) can fabricate piping and stuff to get the job done. it is a bit pricey but i have seen them do work...

have it done professionally so they can worry about stuff like that not you then it will look good and be warrantied for a while should something go wrong...

if u don't think our cars are loud without mufflers then ur mistaken! i had to run stock resonator and no muffler for like a week and all my civic friends loved it to death, so that tells u how loud it was... but it still doesn't sound like pure ass like a civic even with a muffler lol.

i got a 31" glasspack and a 10" turbo tube as a muffler, to a 3" tip, with 2-1/4 crush bent pipe. (u could go 2-1/4 mandrel but i would recomend going any bigger than that unless u are turbo)

u could sub the turbo tube for another very short glasspack if u wanted and it would probably sound very close but a little louder

and a vid so u can hear how sweet it sounds!! (the sound and vid are not in sync so listen and dont watch or u will be very confused and think i droped the clutch at 6k rpm lol)

the first exhaust setup i had for my Suby was side exit, Mopar style....

had it like that for two years, no hassle from the smog guys or cops...

only reason i took it off was the Apex'i setup....

I'm running a side exit right now. It's a little on the loud side as is. I've got 2.25" piping through a magnaflow 4" round/ 18" long muffler with a 90* bend and a dump out the right side. I'm going to try a universal fit in silencer for everyday driving, and then pop it out when I want LOUD. I'd go for the side exit myself, there probably aren't too many Saturns in your area with one.

what do you guys think?
1) not unless you keep earplugs on hand for you and passengers
2) dunno. pick one. you'll need to adapt them to fit either way. do a 2.25 cat-back for best results

xupthree60 - that's exactly what I was thinking about doing to my car. I love the way that sounds. Nice and throaty but not overly loud. Plus it doesn't look like I'm dragging a civic around under my ass.

actually, its a real Apex'i N1 muffler from a $550 catback.

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exh...=178&pageNum=1

Laser etched with the Apex'i logo on the left side of the tip. i hacked the muffler off, and put on the real $300 Blitz muffler. i wont buy cheap parts for a car, id rather spend more the first time and have it done right....

good lord man!

all exhaust is, is a way for the gases after the combustion to exit the engine and get away from the car. definitely not worth spending that much on parts imo. u can build a system that sounds just as good and gives u just as much power for less than half of what u spent just in parts!!! all u have to do is a little research, i know its not as easy the "add to cart" button but it works for me

and i by no way mean go with ebay mufflers, but i mean come on, 300 for a muffler? why?

and kickarse...

im glad u like it cuz i absolutly love it!! i spent a while trying to figure out exactly what i wanted and when i finaly did it... it sounded better than i could have even imagined! i had a **** eating grin on my face for over a week that woulndt go away

the apexi n1 muffler link doesnt even list them for saturns, but does list them application-certain car models. i thought mufflers were universal...??

nope i got the glasspack from advanced (i think it was like $30 or $35) and the shop had the turbo tube and bent the pipe for me. everything all together was like $175 including labor and tax.

u have to shop around for a shop tho, first place i went told me 250 just for the crush bent pipe. then i went to this shop, asked him how much to get the pipe bent and installed and he was like $65 lol so i was like hell yeah.

the guy said the thing is a turbo tube, but i have yet to see a turbo tube that looks anything like the one i have.

xupthree60, have you been able to find out any info on your turbo tube, i've tried looking on the internet for it and i've come across this website that said the turbo tube went away a little while ago, http://www.classicchambered.com/, but their version doesn't look like yours
