Default Re: Oil Drain Plug Size 2006 3.5L

I'm not sure why you're asking, but this is from a posting discussing the Fumoto Valve some have installed:

The valve is straight so it follows the same angle as the oil plug. It just extend the opening out further.

IIRC, the thread is M14 1.5

There was also a link to Ebay for a bag full of washers/gaskets to fit the drain plugs:

Hope this helps.

That is sort of what I am looking for. I am trying to find the Fram Sure Drain version of this plug. No one seems to have any reference to it as far back as 2004.

But from the Fumoto website, and the ebay link that you gave it appears, that the Honda Pilot's engine is the same as my 3.5 2006 Vue's engine.

Again I am hoping to find the Fram Sure Drain version of this plug, but I guess I will have to get the Fumoto valve instead.

If you have a second car, then take the plug out and take it in to a hardware shop and get it measured. Just make certain to disable the Vue so it can't be started dry in case someone at home has a brain-fart.

Yes, our engine is the same one. If it helps, it would be the same in the Acura version of SUV. Go back and read the lengthy discussion that GearGuy and others had about this. The valve tended to leave residual oil in the pan if the Vue was left sitting on a flat surface and not tipped back, like on ramps. In either case, you're crawling under there, so, why not just pull the plug?

2006 VUE Red Line
Default Re: Oil Drain Plug Size 2006 3.5L

I have a Fumoto valve on both of my other vehicles (2005 Chevy Dually Diesel, and 1986 Porsche 911). Love it. Whenever I get to the point of doing my own oil changes on the Vue, I will put one on it too.

The problem with the Duramax and the Porsche is oil capacity. When you drop the plug out and 12-15 quarts come spewing out, it's nice to be able to control it a bit more. Not to mention I can change the oil in both vehicles without getting under either!

Don't know about the other brand, but I haven't even had a drip out of either of my Fumotos.

I think I am going to order the Fumoto when the Vue gets within 500 miles or so of the next oil change.
