yup well 93 sohc is slow thats for sure... twin cam swap is ur best bet. auto or manual? manual is quite a bit faster. the engine being tbi insted of fi means that u cant even get an air intake for it.
there are body kits out there no tail lights tho ... mods i still need to do: struts that can handle H&R race springs rear sway bar stiffer fstb (maybe)

Just keep it as a daily driver. Save up for the DOHC engine swap. Go from there.

i have an auto right now in my car. i think it's ok because i can get a pretty fast start if i rev it in N and then pop it in to D. I have won against some of my friends with cavaliers and neons and things. what do you mean swap to DOHC? I can't get more than 1 car. and how much would a wing help with traction? I have heard different things from people about that but I did see them at checker for pretty cheap

don't bother with an engine swap. swap the SL1-a for an SL2-m. it's easier and less expensive and less of a hassle.
keep doing the neutral slams and put the SL1 out of it's misery sooner. ... eRic 02sc2 fka eRic 96sc2 Detroit SCCA Solo 2001,2002 1st DSP Waterford Hills 2007 Fun Run 1st Detroit SCCA 2008 Triathalon 1st PF Detroit SCCA Solo 2009 2nd ST Crutchfield: pkeqe-6j8e3-d2qqe

Doing a neutral drop forces the transmission to work over time!! The clutch packs inside will eventually give/burn out and your trans will be shot. This is to say if your Diff pin retainer does not fail first allowing the Diff pin to bust through the transmission housing. So stop doing neutral drops just to beat your friends!! This is of course unless you want a bill of around $1300 to replace the transmission. Then I say go right ahead and keep on doing it but I don’t recommend it nor does any other member here. Saturn’s do not like wheel spin unless you prepare them for it first. There are two ways one is better than the other IMO. Watch this trans blow up. http://videos.streetfire.net/categor...64770f1045.htm read this here. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...=diff+pin+fail http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...=diff+pin+fail Here is one thread about the DOHC swap after I used the "search" feature in the forum. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...ight=dohc+swap ![]() ... I can't realy buy a new car, bc i don't have that much cash. so what else can I do that would add speed to my car. nos mabye? i don't know much about nos what are my options there?

i dont mean to get you down, but in a year's time, you'll re-read this post and wonder what you were thinking. The only thing you can do is sell the car and buy another cheap saturn. Clean the car up really nice, and place a for sale sign on it for $1500. Then, look for another car to buy, hopefully one with a DOHC. The 86hp SOHC engines are not worth it, so why bother?
The only way to get your car faster is to go turbo, which will entitle way more money and time than an engine swap. For now, strip down the interior for weight reduction, get 1994-1995 Saturn Sawtooth alloy wheels (they're the lightest) and keep up with the maintenance. ... 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon -> daily & toy =) 2009 BMW 128i -> sold 2003 VW GTI 1.8T -> wrecked 1998 Saturn SL2 -> parted out 1995 Saturn SL2 -> sold 1995 Saturn SL2 -> sold

I think this "madpowa" is someone yanking our collective chains! He's pushed all the "hot" buttons- looking for mods for an early automatic SL1, and talk of neon and wings- I don't buy it.

You don't need to prove anything.
Just drive the car normally or else very soon, you WILL have a broken car. FAST, CHEAP, RELIABLE. You can pick two. ... 85 GLH 89 Daytona Shelby 93 SL2 94 855

UNDERSEAT neon, not Dodge Neons... If your car is neither "Fast" nor "Furious", putting lights under the seats will not make it so. By the way I still don't buy it....
