Manual Shift Knob Removal - 04 Ion 2

how? Cant figure out how to get the old one off... dont wanna break anything so i would like to remove it the right way, any ideas?

P.S. im sure i could figure it out on my own but it was dark and i would probably get it sooner with help form someone that has done it.

The video in the second post I listed shows exactly how it should look. It's as easy as that! With the first time you take it off though, you may have to put just a bit more effort in turning that ring at the base of the shift knob, but it will come off.

The video on how to remove the shift knob worked great for my Saturn Ion! I got a quote to replace the knob from an auto repair shop in my area and they wanted $200. After watching the video, it took me less than a minute to remove it and less than a minute to replace it. The whole job cost me $25!

You lucked out. I had to take a dremel tool to mine.

Thanks for the video i too have been searching for awhile on how to remove that knob super easy. Only thing i wish i did different was not to be under it when i pulled it up. Knocked me on the chin and seen stars for about 15 min.
