Wrench sooner than a i thought...

so i was planing on replacing my trans soon with a manual but its gonna be sooner than i thought since it blew today lol

i was coming back from the jy (with my new 98 vavle cover [kick ass!!!]) and we started to hear this sound like squarls in my engine bay lol so we figuered a belt was going bad or soemthing. then when we came to stop we saw a ton of smoke so i got over as soon as i could and then we saw the trail of transfluid i was leaving everwhere lol. so ive looked and cant figure out where its coming from but its pretty much gushing and it needs to come out neways.

so neways im going to do that swap very soon, like start tomarow or the next day so i will keep u posted but i just wanna make sure im getting everything?

1 the transmition itself
2 brand new clutch kit
3 all of the clutch pedel
4 all of the shifer assembly
5 brake pedel
6 shift cables and stuff

is there anyting other than that? do i need like different mounts or does it use the same?

omg! i dont know what im getting myself into do i!!!! lol

...
mods i still need to do:

struts that can handle H&R race springs
rear sway bar
stiffer fstb (maybe)

You need a PCM from a '95 Sx2 with a manual trans. You're PCM is going to throw a fit when it thinks the car doesn't have a transmission.

High drawl licks?

Try: Hydraulics.

More to the point, the hydraulics might be fine. Just make sure you DON'T "activate" them during the surgery. Put a block under the pedal, or tie it up in the top position, for the duration. If you don't, you probably WILL need new hydraulics.

Sounds like your differential pin went out of the housing.

Make sure you get your new tranny's differential pin WELDED.

"Install Saturn engine support bar #SA9105E or use a 2" x 4" piece of lumber and a bike chain. See picture for reference."

ok i know what that tool looks like but how the hell would a bike chain and a 2x4 replace that? lol theres no pic for reference

and this is kinda important since i dont have that tool and im most likely not gonna get it cuz it probably cost a couple hundred lol

Ok im not exactly sure but i believe it means use a metal bar from the height of the engine bay to support the engine and a chain to go around the metal bar and hooks onto the engine support? Pretty much its use is to support the engine when the transmission is out of there.

Do it like this...

If you don't have a nylon hold down strap, like for a pick up truck, try the dollar stores, I got one with a sweet ratchet for not much money...

Though I left a junkyard with a transmission, a 2x4 like that, and the motor held up with a wagon's cargo net doubled over... no shame.

neways today at 9 me and my friend mat decided that we should start on some stuff today so its less we have to do tomarow...

this was just so u can see how much tranny fluid it was leaking, this is after the car was off for about 6 hours, like i said before the entire exhoust was cover to about a foot past the cat

my friend mat showing up to help, he hates rice but he has a riced out civic lol

this is just before we started, the back is on ramps and the front is just on the ground

mat showing we got the hood off

got one fender off

front bumper, 2 fenders and the splash guards off, man my hair was fro-ing lol

strut bar, air box, and battery tray removed

alot of grime on the engine

parts we took off

end of the night, other things we did was drain the oil, coolent, and trans fluid(not much lol) and u can see the front end is now jacked up

i still havnt decided if im goign to pull it out the top like in hayes or out the bottom like on different racing so if u have done the swap please let me know how u did and how it went

thanks alot guys

I would just do it from the top. Remove the engine and tranny together, and put the tranny on the engine from the outside. Its so much easier, and you dont have to install that support bar across the top. And, you dont have to worry about an alignment that much either. You can also clean EVERYTHING in the engine bay and clean the block when its out.

i envy you SO much for this swap. i wanna do the swap too ya know!

i want to do it from the bottom cuz thats how different racing says and its shows everything to do the swap but im looking at it and im like damn that is alot of work lol it seams alot easier just to pull it out the top, i dunno i keep chaning my mind how im goign to do it every 3 minutes lol

this is gonna be so hard lol but i cant turn back now i already ordered the clutch
