Default Headlights won't turn off

I turned on my high beams while driving and now the headlights, high or low beam, will not turn off at all. No amount of flicking or turning the rotary switch at the end of the stock will stop the light. The only way that i was able to turn off my headlights was to unplug my battery. The high beam light on the dashboard is also always on.

Please Help!

Any postings will be very much appreciated

Perhaps a model and year would help. You can list mileage, but I don't think anyone would need that info, although it might help. What were the symptoms before this started happening?!

But to me it sounds like the switch/level/knob is bad.

Your turn signal arm switch is bad. It's not cheap, and is not a fun job. I've never heard of that happeneing before.

Thanks for the help!! Sorry I didn't provide more info as to year and make it is a 2002 SL1 with only 40,0000 km's. There was no hint of anything about to go wrong before this started. I have since pulled the fuses out so at least I can turn the car off and not have to disconnect the battery. Again, thank-you for you're advice.

Just dont drive at night any more
Or
Go to a junk yard and get everything you need....and spend next Saturday tinkering

Well tinkering with a steering wheel that has an air bag, and bolts on the whole wiper arm, turn signal contraction that are one time use. (that means you need a hammer and chisel to remove them ) is why I said it's not a fun job.
I don't suppose you opted for the extended warranty?

But seriously....It seems like something you should go to your mechanic about.

thank you guys for all the help,

i took my car the the saturn dealer, and the problem was fixed in a matter of minutes! turns out it was just a wire for the front passanger headlight that was rubbing against the headlight bracket, causing it to short out. A little bit of electrical tape fixed the problem.

Thanks Again

Oh, good. That's really weird. The switches go from time to time, but normally they won't turn on the lights, or signals, or wipers.
