Information Door Handle Fix Idea

I went to open my back door today and the handle came off in my hand! Wait...this only happens to beater cars and in the movies, right? Anyway, my wooden dowel shim had obviously fallen out (since I didn't feel like paying the $3 or whatever for the plastic pushpin - outrageous!), so I just got in from repairing it. For future note, if you drill all the way through the hole where the pin goes with a small drill bit, and then use the smallest zip tie you can find, it works awesome! Just zip it around the lever, snip the tail, and the dimensions are perfect; small, slim, head just fits the hole, unobtrusive - I used yellow, and you almost can't see it's there. Use white or clear, and it'd probably be nearly invisible...

Anywho, just an idea. Cheers!

Those crazy pushpins are pretty much one-time use... :-P

or you could just leave the handle off and use both index fingers to lever up the handle-mounts to open the door. LOL
