Default So much for Costco

I spent a ton of time researching my options for new tires on my Vue and finally decided to go with the Michelins from Costco. I originally called about two months ago and the guy told me that if I waited they would have a $60 coupon online. So I waited and ordered the day the coupon became available. Their site sais that the tires usually arrive at the warehouse 5-10 days from order date. On the 11th day I sent an email inquiry as my order status was listed as "In Process" and I also noticed that the tires no longer appear on their website. The response I got was that I can check the status of my order by logging onto the website. Gee, you don't say.

Annoyed, I sent another email stating that they did not answer my questions and that if I did not receive a suitable response I would be forced to cancel my order. So, what do I get back from them?........An order cancellation. It explains nothing, just states that order has been cancelled because the item is not available at this time. I hate Costco right now.

instead of supporting a big box store that destroys the US economy, go to a good local tire store; if there is none (thanks to the big box stores), www.tirerack.com has excellent customer service.

How is paying their employees high wages and benefits destroying the U.S. economy? I think you may have COSTCO confused with Walmart.

Actually the Tire Rack has an EXCELLENT reputation for taking VERY good care of their employees and you can often find the company President and CEO down on the floor filling customer orders and mounting tires....he's well into his 60's....

The last 4 sets of tires I have bought for a variety of vehicles came from Tire Rack. Excellent service and prices. They were mounted and balanced at "my local tire store."

When I buy the dedicated Snows for the VUE this fall, they will come from them as well.

I had been planning to purchase new tires for my VUE from Costco. They were the only ones who showed the Michelin Energy LX4s available in 235/60/17. Tire Rack has had the tires listed as back order for the past month. Local tire retailers were only able to source the OEM Bridgestones. When I was finally ready to order the tires this week, they are no longer listed on the Costco website.

I've had very good experiences with Tire Rack. Ordered 4 sets of tires from them. Each time the tires were delivered to my local installer within 1 day. (Their Delaware warehouse is nearby.)

Because bix box stores don't buy American. They buy cheap cheap from anyone but the US and back office operations are often outsourced to cheap cheap anyone but US.

I was told that Michelin makes a special version for Costco. Not the same tire as a Michelin bought from an independent.

Ordered the Kumho Solus KH16 in 235/65-17 from TireRack. Decent reviews for such an inexpensive tire. I prefer the tread pattern of the Firestone Destination LE, but I'm cheap.

I did the same thing that you did earlier this year when the coupon came out. I first ordered them via phone from the store, but they didn't come in. Then I tried ordering them from costco.com directly and they came into my local Costco within 5 days. I had them installed shortly afterwards. I like getting tires at Costco because they have free balance/rotation and road hazzard replacement as long as the tires have tread on them.

I tried getting these same tires through Merchants, which is a division of Tire Kingdom. The guy said he would get them from another store but never called me back.

Me too. When it comes to tires for Vues, Costco sucks. I had them special order a set of Michelin LTX/MS 215/70-16's, the closest thing I could find to the Duellers (235/65-16). When the tires came in, they refused to mount them because the tires were'nt OEM size. I showed them pages of proof they were the same outside dimension, just 1/2" less width. No dice, it's their policy, see their website.

So I bought them anyway and had my local long-time garage put them on. From now on, I'm buying my tires from them, not Costco. They're not much more than Costo and no grief, as I've been going to them for 30 years.

I tried to get the Michelin Energy LX4s from Costco using a coupon. They were not in stock, and they said they couldn't special order them as they had been discontinued.
I think they just didn't want to fill a discounted order with special order tires.

Tire Rack had them delivered just a few days later.

Creating jobs and selling goods to consumers at lower prices hurts the US economy?

Couldn't one easily argue that many small, inefficient shops that charge inflated prices "hurt" the economy?
