Its crap in my opinion. Don't waste your money on it.

A lot of people believe it is more of a restriction than anything.

what its supposed to do is create a vortex in the air system which forces more air into the cylinders, but the problem with that is that newer cars dont need it, it just restricts the air going in

so, in much older cars, it will work, a little
new cars, it will hinder performance

The butterly valve on the throttle body negates any effect it's intended to have.

Exactly. Any "vortex" effect it might create doesn't matter once it hits the throttle plate no matter if its fuel injected or carbed, old or new. At WOT, maybe since the throttle is wide open, but I still doubt it. Waste of time and money for something to restrict air flow. Something like a CAI or K&N drop in is a better investment.

Default Re: The Truth About The Turbonator!

Quite simple... if it worked, it'd already be on your car. The auto manufacturers would have bought out the rights from the dinky "turbonator" company, or just copied and used the design. Notice there is no patent info on their website.

Also notice, there are no actual photos of what it looks like on their website. They don't want you to see what you're spending your money on. $60 for a little piece of metal that costs about $1.50 to make.

If the "turbonator" is the stupid aluminum thing with the fins, it costs far less than that, I assure you. I thought it was the thing that is not much more than a computer fan, that one is more like $1.50 to make. So which is which?

Yea it's that stupid little thing. Not sure if it's alum. or stainless.
For a small company like "turbonator", manufacturing them in various sizes and small quantities, the cost to manufacture and distribute would be around $1.50. I imagine a bunch of college kids sitting in a garage cutting them out by hand with tin snips.

For an auto maker to manufacture tens of thousands and install them in their assembly lines, it'd probably cost about $0.25

Yeah for a smaller company it will cost more, but I imagine a bunch of illegals with tin snips. But I don't know anything about the company.

This is the best (and only) photo they've put on their website.

They can't even afford a decent digital camera?

Oh, I know which one of the two I mentioned it is. I've seen it before. I just meant they're business practices (and this is a crappy picture, they could have at least gotten the cheapo screwdriver they borrowed from their dad out of the frame too. )

It does create a vortex in your intake tubing. As soon as that vortex meets butterly well, bye bye vortex, and that's that. No harm. And if it was free, I'd put one in my car for sure.
