Default How do I change the Throttle Position Sensor??

Hey guys, this is a great site. I took my Saturn in for some issues, losing power at high speed and car sputterring out. They replaced my oxygen sensor....same issues! It took me five minutes on this site to figure out it probably is the TPS. I bought one, and since I am okay working on cars compared to most guys I know.I thought it wouldnt be an issue...boy was I wrong, I cant even find where it goes! Can someone help me out and let me know exactly where this small part is on a 2003 2.2liter FOUR CYLINDER l200 and any issues in installing it...thanks in advance.

Here's a quote from the FSM; The TP sensor is located on the throttle body connected to the throttle plate shaft.

The drawing shows it located behind the oil dipstick and to the left of the throttle body.

Somebody put you down?

lol, I guess the moderator or someone works really quick, there was a member who went by "The Shaolin" that left a putdown to my question, I checked him out to see who he was and he aparantly left alot of putdowns on this site to others and had a VERY pornographic home page listed. I see he has been removed along with his posts...good thing.

thanks for your answer, there is a sensor of some sort that I intially thought it was the Tps but it only has one bolt..the tps I bought from autozone has two and it looks like the connector might be different. I am thinking that perhaps the aftermarket part I bought look signifiacntly different than the OEM part....I will try to [ost a photo tomorrow night..if nayone who has done this can give me some more pointers I would appreciate it..thansk

The aftermarket part looks EXACTLY like the OEM one. I bought one at Autozone last week ($32.99 or so) and replaced it in about 15 mins. There are two screws holding it in, that's it. It is under the intake (had to remove that for easier access) on the throttle body. I went on all-data and printed out a picture which helped me immensely in locating it. All-data is a free database that most public libraries have.

See the rod that holds the throttle plate in there. Follow it to the oppostie side of the cable. There is the TPS.

BTW, that doesnt look like the right part.....

That's absolutely the right part. That is what I replaced last week.

I bought the wrong TPS, when I bought the right one it fit fine. It didnt solve the problem though. The problem was a clogged catalytic converter that was covered by law to 80K miles.
