Well, my problem is exactly what my thread title says. My driver side mirror had a run in with a small tree and the tree won. The glass on the mirror didn't break, it was the plastic that held the mirror to the car that did. Called the dealership and they quoted me $200 to fix it.
So, my question is if you buy the part, how easy is it to fix it yourself, and if you can diy, then is there a how-to somewhere that someone can post? I have enough confidence in my skills to be able to fix it myself as long as it's not too detailed a procedure. ... 1999 Blackberry SC1 - 74,000 miles 2002-2005 :( 1999 Blackberry SL2 - 121,000 miles 2006-present

Its only one phillips screw, a very small allen wrench and three 10mm bolts. Should take no more than two minutes.
Remove screw from mirror trim panel, loosen forward edge of window frame garnish molding and pull trim panel rearward to disengage. On driver side, loosen set screw and disconnect cable from trim panel ![]() Remove foam filler from mirror reinforcement area. On passenger side power mirror, disconnect harness connector. ![]() Remove nuts from mirror assembly and remove mirror and seal. ![]() Mike 1991 Saturn SL2 Dragster 11.809 @ 116.488 mph TURBO!!! www.differentracing.com 2001 Light Pewter Metallic Chevrolet Suburban 2.0L 1995 Saturn SL2m http://www.cardomain.com/id/lowsaturn ... can't visualize what's broken......is it the plastic mount holding the glass inside the mirror....
or the plastic housing holding the mirror to the car door broken. First is pretty easy (my dealer will get that specific part for me) The other will force you to take the inside door panel off to attach the new housing to the car door.

buy a used mirror on Ebay for $30 or so. Don't pay $200 for a new one. Waste of money. As already said, pretty easy to change out.

If you are standing directly in front of the panel, with the mirror facing right, the part that is broken is the small panel part in the lower right hand corner. ... 1999 Blackberry SC1 - 74,000 miles 2002-2005 :( 1999 Blackberry SL2 - 121,000 miles 2006-present

fixed mine ,
it was hanging by the cables that adjust mirror angle, removed the assembly from door on the back of the triangle shaped pannel noticed there were assembly alighnment dowels put a 1 inch drywall screw into each dowl position pulled the assembly back in place with screwdriver you will need to break off the plastic tabs (dowels ) then put the screw right into that spot ... Have A Great Day , it is YOUR choice !
