Default Is it the throw out bearing???

Okay if i put the car into n and let it idle it sounds like i have a rod knock starting but if i push the clutch in and leave it in n the knock goes away! Also if i put it into gear i have no noise!

My friend told me its the throw out bearing but i dont know much about trans so i let me know what you all know!

Also it has been kinda hard every now and then going into gears when i down shift!

Any ideas or thoughts would be great Thanks

...
I wish it would end and just run like a normal car without somthing going wrong everytime i drive it!

knocking while clutch is engaged=throwout bearing has gone bad
hard to shift while driving=bad clutch

i'd get a CLUTCH KIT because it has EVERYTHING needed for a full clutch job.

...except he said it happens when the clutch is NOT engaged. (clutch pedal out).

Hard to shift while driving could also be the hydraulics. Check the fluid level of the transaxle and the fluid in the clutch maste.r cylinder. (intentional misuse of punctuation, I hate in-post ads.)

Does the knocking stay at one pace or does it pick up when the engine is rev'd?

LOL that was dumb.. doh! I had a similar sound before I replaced my clutch. The throwout bearing had somehow "eaten" into the spring fingers - about half had more wear on them than the others.

I am thinking its the throw out bearing i did replace the clutch with a luke kit about 7k ago!!! When i did the auto to manual swap~!

But i learned on it so maybe it is all bad??? Thanks everyone

For the throw out bearing, with the car in NUETRAL clutch pedal OUT (released) and the noise happening, SLOWLY and GRADUALLY depress the clutch pedal. If the noise quiets right about the time you just start to get resistance to the pedal being pushed, odds are it IS the throwout bearing that is the cause of the noise. IF the pedal is depressed far enough that you can actually put the transaxle in gear, it may not be the throwout bearing at all, but this suggests that the THRUST BEARING on the CRANKSHAFT is worn and the crankshaft is "walking"

I have this same problem. The noise happened a few months after I had my clutch and hydraulics replaced and it's been having that noise for a couple of years. Is it OK to leave or do I need to fix it?

Wolfman i have to push the pedal half way down to make the noise 100% gone but it does get lower as i push the pedal in,

I dont think it goes up or down with the rpms!

no where that loud but kinda close, mine dont go up with rpms

not to scare you but how many miles you got? And does that go away when you push the clutch in? Sounds like rod knock or a lifter put a post up!!!
