Default Installing Roof rack cross bars on Vue?

I'm looking for assistance with installing the roof rack cross bars on the Vue. Has anyone in the group done it themselves? If so, please advise me. I don't see what tool would be used to remove the rails on the top of the Vue so that the roof rack can be installed. The rails have funny star like shaped "nuts" and I don't know what should be used to remove it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Should I just cut my losses and allow the dealer install?

The roof rails on the VUE are attached using Torx screws. You could go to someplace like Sears to purcase a set of drivers or sockets but they might cost more than having your retailer install the cross bars for you. However, if you are planning to do some of your own maintainance work in the future, you might need the Torx set anyway...... Good Luck!

Don't go to Sears. The tools there are good, but very expensive. I recently bought some Torx sockets at AutoZone for around $10, which is much less than what you will pay in labor charges at the dealer.

Thumbs Up

Ask your dealer for the Torx driver. Mine was INCLUDED, although the dealership installed the cross bars, and attached them wrong. Nothing like a cross bar in the middle of your sunroof. I had to correct the mistake, the normal position is in holes 2 and 5 on the roof rail.
Hope this helps
Jerry
