Default rear wheel alignment necessary when replacing struts?

Is it absolutely required to have a rear wheel alignment done after replacing the rear shocks/struts? Or can you just carefully mark everything (if thats possible) and go without?

Yes, you need an allignment. Even if you carefully mark it, it wont be alligned since you're replacing old worn parts with new ones.

get a four wheel alignment done when replacing the struts. at least get the alignment checked to see how far off it is. some shops will check the alignment for free and only charge you to reset it.

I agree, find a place that will check it free or low cost, get it checked and watch them actually check it so they don't pull a fast one on you. Make sure you get prices to do the alignment at other places before you go in so you know how much its worth in the event it needs done.
