Default back up lights

i have a 99 sl2 and the back up lights no longer turn on when in reverse. i have a 5-speed if that makes any difference. is there a sensor by the stick?

Reverse switch is most likely bad. It is on top of the trans. Two wire connector.

something's wrong with mine too. I took the sensor out, and the reverse lights work if I activate the sensor by hand (push the lil ball in) but when it's in the transmission, it just wont work for some reason.

Have you looked into the tranny (thru the hole where you remove the switch) while someone puts the shifter in and out of reverse? That might tell you something.

Replace the reverse switch. You are able to push the ball in further than the lever in the trans.
