2006 ION-2 Quad Coupe
Wrench trunk floor

Hey everyone well i heard that a lot of ppl where having the problem with the trunk sag. Well i fixed mine very easy about an hour to complete and looks even better than it did when i bought the car in my opinion.

Lemme guess, you used a 3/4" sheet of MDO or plywood, cut to shape? That or even a beefy 1" sheet will keep things nice and in shape, better than that flimsy stuff they put in there stock.

no i use a 1/4" burch hardwood plywood. non of that cheap plywood

LOL, I searched for this very topic and found it!
Same here. The while thing caved in. I guess the previous owner removed the spare tire and put something heavy in the trunk.

the funny thing is I went to a junk yard today and saw several Ions with the same problem. I guess i will be cutting that plywood too.

I need to do this to mine. My factory false trunk floor broke in half. I just have a long flat piece of wood laying on the battery and across the spare tire. This offers support for the false trunk floor.

I hate it when I stay logged in on the forums for a while, all the threads marked with new posts get unmarked.

anywho, this is something I may need to look into also since I carry a large jack, and a subwoofer in my trunk, and I think its starting to give.
my trunk floor seems to have hold out quite well since iv had a sub in the trunk as long as iv had the car lol
