Since Saturn no longer seems to list the gear ratios and final drive ratio in their online or printed specifications, can anybody give the gear ratios and final drive for the various models of the VUE?
I'm mainly wondering how many RPMs per MPH in top gear. the HumpMan

On a slightly related question, how do these gears range in physical size? Are they only a couple inches across?
Ive never taken apart a transmission before to know.

The VUE comes with 3 possible transmission configurations
Code:
MG3 VTi M45* MU3** ---------------------------------------------------------------- Range 0.44-2.61 First 3.58 4.685 3.38 Second 2.02 2.94 1.76 Third 1.35 1.92 1.18 Forth 0.98 1.3 0.89 Fifth 0.81 1 0.7 Reverse 3.31 2.15 3.18 3.17 Final Drv 4.41 5.08 2.6 4.45 * The M45 is the Aisin-AW AF33 Transaxle. It's the 5 speed automatic transmission and I included it to show how it compares to the manuals. ** The MU3 is the SAAB F25 Transaxle. It's currently only used on the L series (included as a comparison), but expect to see more of these transmissions used on other Saturn/GM vehicles in the near future.

The L's auto trans is shared with other GM cars. I believe that the Malibu is one of them.

The S series has 1 Transmission 2 models, the L series has 2 Transmissions 2 models, and the VUE has 3 Transmissions.
NOW, let me just say this about the SAAB F25. It's THE transmission used in the Touring Cars of Europe. The Opels, SAABs, Vauxhalls, etc all use this transmission in a 6 speed configuration. So where's that gear set? Oh take a look at the rumors about the 2002 OLOA Saturn. About 3 major companies make the gears and LSD for this transmission, and can be purchased for $4K and $1100 respectivly. Maybe we can get a group discount....
