Great pics, I'm excited. The Outlook, might keep me in a Saturn beyond my S-series.

Okay a couple of things:

1. Who is the moron who would pick some one up at the airport in a camoflauged car? I don't understand that one. If an automaker doesn't want people to see their designs early, they shouldn't have their employees drive to public places like an AIRPORT!!

2. Since you can't see much of the car, I thought the wheels looked really nice.

3. The front seat backs look like they would be very comfortable.

4. It is me or does it look the it rides lower to the ground than a crossover should? Maybe it just the camo.

Anyways, can't wait until the NY Auto Show.

That looks Tahoe-sized!

I liked one poster's comment on the GMI boards, mistaking it for a Toyota.

The earliest anyone should expect the Outlook to be in dealers is toward the end of the calendar year.

GM "sold" what, a few hundred electric cars? And how many MILLIONS of trucks and SUVs? Even with gas the way it is (actually, $2.09 here today), hundreds of thousands of trucks and SUVs with horrible gas mileage will be sold this year.

I wish everyone would realize that you don't need an 18 wheeler to take the kids to school in, but that's the way it is, and it makes good business sense to make those vehicles for them.

GM never sold a single one of the EV1s. They were all leased, and a buy-out was never an option. As much as the owners begged and pleaded to GM to sell the cars to them, GM would not. Each and every one of them were destroyed after the lease term was up. The owners of those cars loved them immensely, but they were intended as an experiment, and GM had no plans to make them a production vehicle of any sort. BTW I have seen the EV1 listed under the Saturn make for certain parts catalogues.

The Outlook isn't a "truck" in the sense that a Silverado or Expedition are. Crossovers like the Outlook are lower than a truck but higher than a car. The engines are supposed to be the 3.6L V6 and a V8, which may be a new V8 derived from the high feature V6's (2.8, 3.6, etc).

That's why I put "sold" in quotes. My point was that even if they offered them for sale, even at a reasonable price, their limitations and the consumer's desires for larger vehicles will still mean that automakers can and will make much larger profits from SUVs and trucks.

I find absolutely no fault in automakers producing and selling large, gas-guzzling vehicles. They are simply answering to consumer demand. If GM didn't offer large SUVs, their competition would. While I don't think the Outlook will become one of the top selling vehicles in the country, I feel that it's position in the market will lead to favorable sales numbers for Saturn. If I want something bigger than a VUE from GM, I either have to get a minivan or a truck-based SUV. Practically speaking, the Outlook will probably offer better performance, handling, economy, and comfort than, say, an Envoy or Tahoe. Lots of people want the qualities of a car but the space of a larger SUV.
