Default '03 L300 L81 w/or w/o CAN bus?

Can my L300 L81 '03 be scanned with an OBD II scantool w/o the CAN bus software or with? I have the factory manuals but can't find any info that my car has/hasn't the CAN bus. I'm thinking ahead and shopping for a good scantool with an LCD display and possibly uplinking to a laptop. I see costs of around $250 so far.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Yes the car can be scanned with a cheapo scanner. The car is all class 2 except between the pcm and EBTCM. Its high speed lan there.

Bigc791, thank you, its a maze trying to find the correct info. I'm afraid that because I'm old school(well grounded 2-stroke/4-stroke background,1-Datsun '77 EFI 280Z w/factory manual as intro to fuel injection, electronics tech as work experience, this new school approach to engine/instrument/drivetrain management will take some getting used-to. All in all I'm pretty impressed with my 1st Saturn despite some negatives reading the problems from other model owners.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
