Default Intakes

I have a 95 sc2. iam not trying to break a 10 seconder or less. i just want it to sound good with a few extra ponies. is there really a differnce between short ram and CAI. wich one sounds better and is there a noticable power increase?

An intake isn't going to do much towards your goal of sub 10 seconds. And the sound of your intake if/when you get your car that fast will be pretty loud.

save $$$$ and buy an AEM cai if you want ponies. Either one works pretty well on the sound part. I would prefer a short ram on ebay over the cai versions since the cai there probably don't have as good bends as the AEM product.

all stock for now (nothin' wrong with that either)

I'll miss my Saturn, from the AEM CAI to the rear main oil seal leaks to the giant APC stickers on the side (sarcasm)

Is your car auto or manual? I know on the SL & SW you can't put in the CAI if you have an auto.

Either a short ram intake or a Cold air intake will give you these benefits:

An instant increase in horsepower
A noticable boost to your throttle response
Improved fuel economy
A long life, washable performance filter

Yes, a performance intake system will give you more power and it will give your vehicle a growl.
A performance intake has a wider pipe with fewer bends and dips. The result is a higher volume of air that flows more freely, filling your combustion chamber with more oxygen molecules for lighting fuel.
CAI's take in cooler air that is denser with oxygen molecules for a better burn and more power.
Short ram intakes take in warmer air, It is preferred to have a short ram intake if you live in a wet climate. Short ram intakes sit under the hood, While CAI's sit in your wheel well.

A CAI is better for power, but since the piping in longer u kinda have a lil more pedal delay cuz the air has to travel the lenth of the intake tubing. Its kinda like turbo lag.

A short ram intake is cheaper and in some cases ,like someone alredy said, automatic's cant have CAI. But Rams can be better than CAI if u add a scoop. It can acutually cause any from 0.5 to 1.8 Psi in the intake system from the incomin air comin throu the scoop. But to me it looks stupid, a hood scoop on the bottom right hand corner of the hood

i live in NY (weather always changing) and iam on a budget. i only plan to put intake and obx header with downpipe on my car. so i think by getting an ebay short ram with real obx headers and i should be fine and maybe a higher flow muffler. i have no major speed planns i just want it to feel like iam driving sumthing fun. i also wanna drop it but whats the recomended height for a 95 sc2 5spd
