Default unlocking door

On my 2000 LS1, the doors were automatically unlocking when I was shutting the motor off and removing the key. Suddenly, no more unlocking. And it's not the fuse.

My mechanic told me it could be an electronic problem, or a cut wire. Anyone had this problem?

with your car running hold down the "unlock" button on your door you should hear a beep after 4-5 seconds

Question Re: unlocking door

While we are on the subject, is there a way to program the door locks so that they unlock when you put the car in PARK, rather than when you turn off the car and remove the key? I like to jump out and get the mail in every night when I come home, and I do the Homer Simpson "DOHHH" each night because the door is locked. That's how our Pontiac Montana works, and I'm more used to that.

I don't think you can reprogram it to unlock the doors when it's put in PARK. Instead, I have trained my right hand/thumb to slide up the door grip and slide over the unlock button on the way to opening the door handle. After doing this over and over it becomes second nature.

acesell1,

Are you saying that you ILLEGALLY drive to the left side of the road to get your mail in?
