There is a company out there that makes a loud speaker device which produces a blowoff sound effect when the car shifts.
With it, a set of LED windshield washers, and a 4 inch exhaust tip you could possibly be the coolest guy in town; or not.

ummmm
You bought a blow-off valve and you don't have a turbo?? I don't think you understand what a blow-off valve does. When your turbo spools up it pushes air into the intake tract. When your throttle closes (like when you are shifting), the throttle plate closes but the turbo doesn't stop pushing air into it. For SAFETY, the blow-off valve releases the extra air until the throttle opens or the turbo spools down. Get an AEM CAI, it kind of makes the same sound when you shift. The only other way I can figure this is putting some sort of whistle thing on between the tube the goes from the intake to the cam cover. Sell the blow-off valve or get a turbo!

awww...he didnt post it on TSN! I wanted to see THEIR reaction...
Ok, seriously...first, welcome to the boards. Not everyone is a jerk here, in fact, no one who responded to your Thread is a jerk...its just a really funny question, thats all. Everyone here is VERY friendly and helpful...I hope we didnt scare you away. Anyway, a BOV is not just something that sounds cool. It serves a purpose as mentioned before. If sound is all youre interested in, invest in a muffler (not full exhaust) and ditch your intake resonator. If your wanting to add some performance stuff, start off with an aftermarket intake, luckily you have a manual, so all is not lost on your SOHC. You can pick up an AEM CAI, very nice from what Ive heard. Followed up with bored and tapered throttle body, full exhaust, and a few other goodies, and I think youll be happy. If not, do the DOHC swap...i know youll come across lots of people telling you SOHC sucks and you need to swap, but do what YOU want. The SOHC is a great economy engine, as is the DOHC...but the DOHC does have almost 30 extra HP...they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Actually it's 24 hp. Of course that can be (surprisingly) easily made up for w/ a custom cam, an Apex-i SAFC, and any WAI & muffler. You can tune to make gains to 130 bhp! Then you'll be beating the stock DOHCs! I have to find out who makes the cam, I thought it was SDA (www.streetdesignauto.com) ... -96 SC2 gets 35 mpg mix city/hw.

Yeah welcome to the boards. Sorry we try not to be jerks like Gets said. But when questions come up that are more then just a bit off the wall there is quite a bit of fun made at the expense of the poster.
For the most part this board is about Saturn upkeep, performance and tastefull changes to the cars already good looks. There are not a lot of people here that entertain the "Look and Sound Fast" mentality. It is a board for folks who really want to be fast, because the looks and sound will come hand in hand with real performance mods. Want a better sounding Saturn, buy an intake. Saturns are sporty little cars in their own right, even the SL1s. There is no need to try to make a Saturn seem like something it isn't. If you don't have a turbo don't chase making it sound like a turbo. If you just can't live without that sound, then build a turbo. It is expensive, but then you will have a dog that can back up its bark.

mad_nigerian - Do what these people are saying...get an intake...or even cheaper...make one. I've built intakes for my cars and its pretty simple...you almost dont even need to buy any kind of tube for a simple one. Yesterday I built a homebrew CAI using the stock intake tube and a corner piece from the intake I had on my old Neon...then I clamped down the cone filter I had from the Neon intake and called it a day. Actually I had to do some "fabrication" (heh I bent a metal bracket...does that count as fabrication?) to go over the coolant hose to protect both the intake tube and the hose...other than that...nothing else was done. The car is louder than I've ever imagined...and most of that is probably just from removing the air and resonator boxes.
Sometimes when it shifts you can hear a sucking sound...its kinda like what you're trying to achieve...but this will actually work...and will sound nice (might even give you a performance gain too)...getting a BOV and trying to work some way to get it to release pressure that isnt there so that you can sound cool...isnt gonna work. At least not very well. If at all. Otherwise there are the BOV simulators...but thats even worse. I dont know why there's a market for these stupid trinkets. The hootee-hooo whistles and the fake intercoolers et cetera et cetera... ... Red 2002 Saturn SC2 Coupe

A BOV will not work on an atmo engine. The whole point of a BOV is to release pressure, and it is opened by the DIFFERENCE in pressure on the diaphram.
So if there is a difference in pressures, one side seeing vacuum and the other seeing pressure, dependent upon its sensitivity, it will open. But, being a car guy, you knew that. You must have known that as you bought the most powerful saturn ever made!1!1

Ive thought about that too...Though, just to sell on ebay and make some mullaaa...
Get that lil thing you put in your muffler...... I noticed after getting a bored out TB with an intake the hiss that comes from releasing the gas is much louder, so do that.... Its kinda funny too, I put my WAI on an 01 audi tt today....Sounded like a BOV was hooked up, but its only got a DV. It was saawweeeet. Thats what around 14psi will do for ya. ... Im not crazy, just bored... http://www.cardomain.com/id/the_skin_eater ---Chek it out. All my time goes to the Talon...My girlfriend is jealous. But my car is jealous that I sleep with her...
