Default May 2004 vs May 2005 Incentives

Last may I bought a v6 Vue.
I got Gms plus almost $6000 in incentives, or call them rebates.

I'm thinking about buying another Vue, but the incentives this year are only 1/3 of what I got last year.

Why?????

I have read a few articles in financial mags regarding this and GM and Fords incentives/rebates etc.
Supposedly because they are doing so badly they basically want to start charging more for thier vehicles, cut the great interest rates and incentives.
Sounds like it will have the opposite effect of what they are hoping for but we shall see.
I'm in the market right now to get a Vue but I was shocked when I visted my dealer after hearing people here discuss what great deals they got and then I saw how bad the incentives are right now.

1.9% $1000 off
or
4.9% and 2250 off
and that "includes" GMs hotbutton bonus for May which will be discontinued in June.

This is precisley the reason incentives are bad for a MFR. The public has come to expect Almost 20% off their vehicle. Sales were slow so they rolled out incentives..Sales slowed a bitmore, roll out more incentives..NOW what?
People also have a skewed view of American vehicles so people expect the discounts to make up for an apparent quality difference.. Go read a Honda Odyssey forum and see how happy they are with the tranny issues.

I buy USA and I treat my car with respect and maintain it. Then I hope for the best and so far my cars have been great...

Which year/engine do you have in your VUE? If it's the 2004+ V6, you have a Honda engine and a Honda transmission.

That's cool, you "buy USA" and pick a car that's got one of the highest foreign parts content of any American car. (Even though most of those parts are made at Honda plants in Ohio.)

Be careful smart guy, the EqX had a higher % of foreign (READ not US/Canada) than the Vue when I bought. 65% Eq vs 70% or 75% for the VUE if I remember right...At the very least the VUE has an engine sourced as japanese vs the EqX engine from China

I know your not counting Honda engines made here but someone is...I gues my '04 is more American? The whole thing makes the mind spin. But in one respect I can see buying stateside Jap made cars, they dont contribute to the union mentality....<Duck>

I want to buy another house this year and get the same deal on the listing price and interest rate on the loan. How come I can't?

Simple, because times change. The end.
