Idea Get Saturn on "Made in America"

Okay, so in the past, we have been invaded by Honda owners, invaded by SRT-4 owners, Acura owners, and a number of others i'm sure...

People who would register, post a few snide comments about Saturn, start a few wars, and bad mouth Saturn just for the sake of it. Thankfully, Charlie's been there to ban, delete, and remove them...

Anyway, It's our turn to invade a forum...
No, we're not going to go blast SRT-4 owners....

I need all of you, to go and register on the travel channel's website forum dedicated to the show John Ratzenberger's Made In America!!!

Go here: http://travel.discovery.com/fansites/jrmia/jrmia.html Click on "Suggest a Topic" and you'll be taken to the "Made in America" forum.

Register, and post a new topic, and possibly even reply to other's, about how he should go tour the Saturn Factory in Spring Hill, TN while they are still producing only Saturns (This means now people!). Be sure to make the thread title something better than "suggestion" or "show idea"... Make the title something like Saturn Automotive Plant, Saturn Corporation in Spring Hill, TN, Saturn in Spring Hill, TN... An american car, etc...

If you're interested in helping, you might even mention the dates for the SaturnFans Homecoming this Summer (June 27), and maybe we can get him to come to the meet and he can interview all of us, and we can show off all of our high mileage, long lasting, great looking Saturns... And some of the newer ones too...

Okay, so Saturns aren't 100% made in America any more, few vehicles are. However, Saturn, by far, is the most American car company around to date! I mean, Saturn was origianally founded on the pricinple of "For the American people, made by the American people". The S-series was 100% designed, engineered, and manufactured in America, particularly, Spring Hill, TN.

My 2004 Red Line 3.5L V6 VUE ( yes, the engine is made by Honda ..but by Honda at their plant in Anna, Ohio) is 100% American made, a fact that I am proud of!!!! Heck, it's the reason I bought my Saturn! I wanted something I knew was American made, and as a former Tennessean, and forever a Tennessean at heart, It felt good to know that by buying a Saturn, not only was I buying American, I was buying something built close to home.

So, please, please, take a moment, go and register, and suggest... Or rather... Tell John he has to go visit Saturn in Spring Hill, Tennessee!!!

If you decide to help out the effort, please post a reply in this thread with the link to your post or topic over there. Thanks!!!

I'm not trying to be negative here, but maybe people are missing something. Does it really count as being made in America when so many of the parts, even for the '91 model year, were made in places such as Canada and Mexico? Sure, it's assembled in America, but even the first Saturn contained a lot of foreign components.

Actually, I think you missed the point.

The final assembly is in America. They've done Corvette, which isn't 100% from America, but the final assembly is. In fact, I'm betting most of the products they cover contain foreign parts, but they're "made" in America.

According to the sticker on my VUE, it's assembled with something like 95% American parts. That's "Made in America" to me!

Done.

This seems like a really good idea. After overviewing the other shows that they have done, Saturn seems as if it could fit in quite nicely.

(Put something about "TV SHOW" in this thread's topic, I thought you were talking about parts content, and didn't click on it for a long time ) You'll probably attract more people to this thread if you say something about TV.

when the 1991 Saturn was introduced it was something like 97-98% USA parts. you'd have to look on the window sticker. from what I remember. the speakers are made in Japan, the spare tire jack is made in Canada. Canada and Mexico are part of NAFTA so we count them as part of America

Yeah, I guess I did.

I've never seen the show, so I wouldn't know what they would consider to be American-made.

If Corvettes can get on there, we for darn sure should be able to!

nah, vette owners are way more freaky. you should goto a corvette club autocross. they have as many classes for corvettes as scca has for everything else. changing the blinker fluid or using aftermarket falangies puts you into another vette class.

Yeah, that thread already has more posts than most on the travel channel forum. The 5 stars, and high post count will attract some 'higher-ups'.
