Default gauge clusters... interchangeable between years of the same model, engine, & trans?

i need a new gauge cluster for my 92 SC DOHC 5speed, and i have been told that the only cluster that will work is a cluster from the exact same car, another 92 DOHC 5speed.... is this true, or can i get a 91 or a 93 for example?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

I don't believe there was a '91 coupe.
But '92 they had the oil pressure gauge, right? You should be able to get one from an SC2 either manual or auto it shouldn't matter. You WILL need it from a DOHC though.

I have a '92 SL2 and that's the only gauge cluster I can put in, I'm not sure about '91.
These go together: '93-'94, '95-97 or '98 (don't remember what year they switched to digital odometers).

...
-96 SC2 gets 35 mpg mix city/hw.

Yeah, get one w/ the oil pressure gauge only found in '92, no later.
What's wrong w/ your instrument cluster? Broken odometer? It can't be as bad as mine.

I have:
messed up speedo, odometer and tripmeter are broken, gas gauge reads too low (fixable), and my oil gauge is all funky now. If you happen to find one for a '92 SL2 then let me know

i need to know for sure, if i buy one from a junkyard, there is no refunds only credit(that's what most do in my area)

besides, do the 91s have the oil pressure gauge?
