Default Trans shifting oddly

In the last week, I've noticed a change in the way the trans in my 98 SC is shifting. When going from 1st to 2nd (I think), the shift is a little abrupt, and then there's a small second jerk from the car. Also, the car seems to be taking a little longer to go in reverse, when cold, but it's not slamming. Just got the fluid changed. Has been changed every 30K like the book says. I'm now at 174K. Got new valve body at about 100K. I'm on the original alternator. I drive most miles on the road, so the alternator gets plenty of air over it. Think this alternator is finally dying on me?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

If thats the original alternator, then I'd say its the alternator. Any easy way is to just go down to you local parts store (advance auto, auto zone, etc.) and have them check the charging system for you. Or if you have a volt/multimeter, check to see that the battery reads 14v when running, or 12v when the engine is off.
