1997 SC2
Default Rough and Rumble

Just got a 1997 SC2 106K miles.
New muffler today, new Oxygen sensor, PCV today. Have new plugs and wires and temp sensor for tomorrow. Along with MMO soak.
Trouble is the car runs rough when stopped at light. The whole thing shakes. It shakes/rumbles when in park but not as bad. I can get it to about 10000rpms when in gear and gets better. Regular idol at 7500.
Put it in neutral and not bad, but the roughness makes this plastic baby rattle all over. The upper motor mount looks good at least visually.

Any help would be appreciated. Also new speakers today on the rear deck.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Most likely the upper engine mount. If you are able to stick your finger between the frame side steel part of the mount and the part that bolts to the engine then the mount is likely collapsed. There are other ways of checking but it can depend on the style of mount that you have. The solid rubber block mount or the on with the upside down u shape in it.

THANKS to all -
After reviewing all I went to Saturn and bought new mount, studs & bolts. $90.00 The car runs like new. The hardest part was going to my neighbors and getting the floor jack. I plan on doing bottom at a friends heated garage when I get a little more time. This forum is worth it!.

Thanks to all you experts out there and I'm glad you "got my back"

Happy new year!!!
