Default -- DVD Flip-Down Monitor --

okay i'm thinking about installing a dvd player in my vue. either i am going to do a separate dvd player and a single flip down monitor or i'm getting a flip down monitor with built-in dvd player. and my plans are to install it where the center dome light is located. if i do the separate dvd player i would like ideas of areas to install it. also if i could, i would like to see some pics of either your aftermarket dvd system or even the factory dvd setup. thanks for your help.

2002 VUE 2.2L
Default Re: -- DVD Flip-Down Monitor --

Ya know, I don't think anyone has the factory setup yet. I have seen the promotional posters for it at work, and it looks very similar to the posted system, except it is color matched to the interior of the VUE, and has this strange surround that goes around the factory dome light. If your retailer is willing to let you see the paperwork you may see what I mean.
Good luck with this!

Standard install for the aftermarket DVD player is under the passenger seat. If or when I do mine I will be checking into installing it right above the rear seat cup holders (there is a little shelf there now) in the center console. IF that doesn't work out then you could add it under the stock radio unit.

Sure, that would be great - and welcome to the forums! Are you angry mad, or crazy mad?

Depends on the day...

Actually, it's a term I was bestowed in my younger and wilder pre-kids/marriage days, but that's another story...

Very nice. How did it install with the sunroof. The head liner in magnetic (at least mine is). Does it interfere with the sunroof operation? This is why I haven't done mine.

hey, thanks for the pic. i think i'm going to install it exactly like that. i don't have the sunroof on my vue. i was going to install it right where the light is. that way i should have easy access to a ground and power wire.

I had a local shop do the install. I have the side curtain airbags on this VUE and was a little leary of the install at the time. The sunroof still works great. The only interference I have noticed is decreased reception of the radio while the unit is operating. I have narrowed it down to the unit broadcast a low power FM signal to play over the speakers. When you flip the screen up, reception is improved.

If/When I do mine, I will be the local shop. I was a little concerned with the sunroof and the flimsy head liner, but after seeing yours, I am going to have to investigate a little to see if I will do mine. Good point about the FM part. I have heard similar comments about these models. For the price they get, one would think it would be better. I have done many of these installations but I dont use this brand. I normally use a separate FM modulator that is hard wired into the FM and uses a switch to activate it. Many of the wireless modulators leave a lot to be desired. HMMMMM, looks like a project to sneak in between jobs soon. Now I have to see when I can make time with all the christmas gift installs that need to be scheduled. Thanks for the pic and input.
