Dizzy Cam Position Sensor???

I am confused, to say the least. In some threads it says that SL's have cam position sensors and in others they say they don't. I have a '97 SL and want to know if it has one or not. Can someone please tell me???

They don't. The PCM does a parlor trick, looking at when the coil pack fires and the different voltages of the wires for (IIRC) plugs 1 and 3, to send a make-believe cam pos signal.

SLs have a crank position sensor, but no cam position sensor.

No actual cam sensor.

Cam sensors are not that important anyway, they are mostly a back-up for the crankshaft sensor anyway, since a cam sensor would not be that accurate due to belt or chain slack.

All "S" series SOHC/DOHC

CRANK shaft postion sensor = YES

CAM shaft position sensor = NO
(It is indeed just a function of the ignition system, there is NO physical part)
