bad satun ion redline clutch problem

Hello to all who are concered i recently purchased a o4 ion and with 4500 miles the clutch has started sliping majorley. Actually i have never had a clutch slip like this and smoke also. they are having a saturn engineer rep look at the car at my saturn of orange park they are evidently woried this might be a inherrent problem with the car ... im not suprised , personally i think the clutch was just to soft on the car

Has any one had any problems like this? , it sucks besides this it has been an awsome car .
the problem happens just crusing as bout 55 in 5th at 2800 rpm if you start to accellerate is when it all goes to hell .. i pricate you're imput.

I'm not sure why they would even need an engineer or say it is a inherant problem, unless they are talking about that one vehicle. I have never read about common clutch problems in the manual Ions. Hopefully they ID they problem and fix the issue right for you.

I've got 16K+ on mine and do a lot of driving over 55mph on my way to work and back. Never had a problem. And this is my first manual car, so I know I haven't treated the clutch as well as some might.

I have an 04 Ion QC3 and it happens to me. Not on the highway but when starting from dead stop. I get a little slip noise but no smell of clutch. I have 11,000 miles on mine.

I get the same slip noise on my 04 ION sedan with 3500 miles.

I've had that happen, but that's more me screwing up getting into gear and less a problem with the car

I had an SL2 sedan whose entire clutch needed to be replaced at 31,000 miles, and a 2003 VUE at 80,000 miles whose clutch cylinder and clutch rod needed to be replaced.
