Default Replacing bulbs for a/c console

I apologize if this has been asked before.

Some of the bulbs seemed to be burned out for the a/c console in my SL1 2001. Can you replace these bulbs, and if so, how do you go about doing that? Also, what type of bulbs are needed?

Thanks

Check with your local Saturn parts deparment. I suspect that the 2001 cars need to have the entire HVAC control head replaced.
If the car is still under warrenty it is covered by it.

Does anyone else know if the unit must be replaced, or if the bulbs can be replaced?

I was able to remove the led lights, there were about 3 that were out. It looks as though they are just held in by the thin wire from the bulb, does that sound right to anyone else? I had to order the bulbs from Saturn.

My AC switch bulb was out before, and Saturn doesn't have just the bulb for it. Like Wolfman said, you need a new assembly (Either New from Saturn, or Used from Junkyard).

There's an Option, however. I got a similar bulb (not a direct replacement, but close) from RadioShack. Look for 12V low-wattage bulb with similar connection and size, then make it to fit in the unit. That's how I did it.

Actually credit Ssicarman for that one. I have yet to personally disassemble the HVAC console on an 00' and up "S" series myself so was not sure one way or the other.

The bulbs are definitely saudered onto the board, which is the easy part. I went to Radio Shack but the only white led lights they had were 3.6 volt. They don't carry white in 12v. Can you use another voltage, or will it blow the led? Thanks

Does anyone know if you can use a 3.6v led bulb if the led is normally 12, or what if anything would happen? The new board for the ac is about $130, ouch!!

You could use it if you want the LED to blow right away. Would you plug a 110V appliance into a 220V outlet?
