Attention Danger: High speed thread! Top speed on L300V6 and 2.2 -ecotec?

What is the top speed on the 3.0 liter
v-6 equipped L300?
and how about the 2.2 ecotec?

Is it drag limited ?
or limited by the PCM.

What is the highest speed you have
taken your L-Series to and how was the stability ?

90+ in the U.P. of Michigan in my L200.
Would have gone faster, but I had the bike rack with 2 bikes on it.
Besides, the wife woke up & started *****ing about it.

The V6 limit is supposed to be 121 mph. I have never tested that limit. It will do 115 with NO problem. Without the limit I would bet it would easily hit 140.

That's really strange because the 4-cyl supposedly has a top speed of 125 with a limiter at 115. I wonder why they gave you 6 more mph!

I've made it to 120, but started to get a little shaky(me, not the car) so i slowed down. My heart was racing like it was about to jump out of my chest.

Two weeks after I got my L300 I was driving to work on a Sunday morning and the freeway was empty... except for me and a police cruiser. I didn't think I was going that fast but when I saw the cruiser I checked my speedo... I was at 100mph exactly. Needless to say, I was pulled over. The officer was really cool and sympathetic to my situation so he put down that I was only going 74 mph. Needless to say I was thankful. I think one time when I was rushing my girlfriend to the hospital for an asthma attack and had a police escort. When we got there and she was checked in and everything the cop pulled me aside and asked to look at my engine. He'd never seen an L before and had a few buddies come check it out when he called into the dispatch to say he was providing a police escort to a Saturn going 100mph.

Its way to easy to get over 90 in this car, especially when passing one or two cars on a two lane road with the pedal to the floor....

Back in the day I had a Datsun 280z. It would do 135. That's the fastest I've ever driven.

I have gotten to 118mph with no problems. After about 110mph
its a little more rough and harder to control. After say 115mph i stop trying to change lanes at those speeds fearing that i may loose control.
My brother claims that he has gotten to 128mph in my V-6 L300, which he showed me in the log of his GPS unit.
I am not sure this is correct though but as for me I have taken the car to 118mph. Is the L-series limited to 121mph? or 130mph?

When your tires are new , alightment and balancing good the L-Series is downright smooth riding at 100mph, wouldn't you agree?

Yeah my steering use to shake when i was running on balled tires that weren't balanced in a long time but otherwise when my tires are new and aligment and everything was straight the car goes by 100mph with no problems whatsover.

Very smooth.

There is some wierd wind noise sometimes though.

What about you Qlara?

I cruised at 100 mph for 10 miles across central Illinois on I-70. Smooth ride, the L300 didn't even break a sweat, although I had (and still have) a shake thru the wheel above 80. Amazing engine...
