Are the roof trim strips removable?

The roof trim strips on my 08 Astra XR have the rubber or plastic coating on them peeling and the underlying aluminum is corroded. The strips wiggle around a bit so I’m thinking that they are held on by clips or something.

I would like to remove the strips and sand them down and recoat them. Do any of you guys know how to remove the strips without damaging them?

Also, are replacement strips available at an affordable price?

I removed them. Peeled coating, cleaned and repainted.

They each have about 4 clips (maybe 1 inch long each) and pop off in about 10 seconds. Can't remember exactly how but search my posts. If the removal instructions are not there I followed tips from a post here or on the UK Astra sites.

I did mine too. I had to slide them forward towards the windshield and off they go.

Dcalden, keep in mind the clips that retain the rails, may break if they haven't been replaced. Mine were brittle and broke to pieces easily.

definitely removeable but be careful not to break the clips, i took mine off and stripped and painted as well, even though now they are fading again, broke 2 of the clips but just put silicone and put the strip down, holds perfectly
