2007 VUE 2.2L
Default Clutch problem

2007 cue 160k miles
I've driven manuals for 35 years and never experienced a problem like this. In the span of 30 minutes and 20 miles my clutch stopped working. Gradually the pedal went further to the floor and now goes all the way. The driver's floor has a lot of liquid on it, presumably from the clutch. There is no other fluid evidence anywhere. No drips on the linkage or anything, both inside and out. Is this a slave cylinder problem, throwout bearing?
Thanks

Default Re: Clutch problem

Sounds like master cylinder.

If fluid is on floor is DOT3 brake fluid, then its probably coming from the clutch master cylinder, leaking past the actuator shaft (the shaft that the pedal presses)

Fairly easy fix, replace the entire master cylinder assembly. I'd recommend bleeding it before installing it, it will make your life a lot easier.

Something like this:

If you do a good job of bleeding the master cylinder, you won't need to re-bleed it when you install it on the car.

If the pedal is hard, DO NOT FORCE IT.

Here is a link to how to bleed - read the entire thing, but pay attention to Bleeding The Master Cylinder.
