Default 0-60 videos

Here are some 0-60 videos I made. Ion 2, auto trans, no mods. The first clip is using "I" in the auto trans, second clip is using the standard "D". Looks to be about 9 seconds either way...
Video 1 ("I" used)
Video 2 ("D" used)

I did a run with a G-Tech 2 people in car.. both of us big boys...
8.4sec 0-60 16.3 1/4mile at 88mph

now i know you cant trust a G-tech but we have run this at the track and it always... and i mean always gives a reading of 0.1 sec faster than the track timing... so at the track i can guarantee a 16.4.. but prolly better as i would not have my buddy with me in the car... so -240lbs

NO!!!111 ION is t3H SLOW! IT IS 11-12 SECONDS T3H LIKE CAR MAGS SAY! NO WAY IT BEAT T3H CIVIC!!!111 AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE 200HP REDLINE WILL BEET T3H SRT-4!

This probably puts a manual (with a good driver) at least a second below that, at perhaps 7-8 seconds. This is what many of us have assumed all along.

I clocked your movies with a timer. When you used "I", you shaved about 1 second off of "D's" time. "I" was about 9 seconds, while "D" was about 10. Granted, this could be due to variance in the driving.

That 40+ extra HP is going to make the RedLine SCREAM. Depending on how it's geared, I think we'll see 5-6 seconds - Easily. And it'll have more high-end power than most small cars.

Sorry, but this just isn't your nature to behave this way-- leave it to the kids.

Hm... isn't redlining a car bad for the engine? I tend to not take my car above 5k RPM for fear of a rod shooting through the hood.

1337 = gibberish born from illiterate lazy webmonkeys. As for the Ion, awesome. I recently hit the Other Limiter, the top speed one. Felt like I slammed into a freaking brick wall.

Hmm, I don't think I hit the redline once. It was more like 6K rpms...

besides, if the GM folks can squeeze more than 600 hp out of a stock Ecotec block, I'm really not worried about the redline once and awhile

I know what your talking about, at a whopping 107 MPH

It's too bad a Sentra, Corolla, Civic, Elantra or any other *insert make here* could walk by us on long straight aways through the desert. Ions just look better

If you have an auto, you will never redline it. The max RPM you can get it up to is 6K before it shifts. I don't think redlining is all that bad unless it is done on a continual basis. I had to hit the 6K mark the other day on the highway to get up to speed with traffic, and my baby is doing just fine....

For me going up hills without engine whine or being able to use AC while on the freeway is more important than a 1-2 second improvement in 0-60 acceleration time.

9 seconds to 60 mph is fine and is 2 seconds faster than the reviews for the Ion sedan auto without a broken in transmission, reviewed by people who hate ALL Saturns.

Besides, if fast 0-60 times is a main consideration I'll buy a 2004 or newer Red Line or go for a Ecotec supercharger or turbo.

I really loved my SL2, but the Ion is just a better car is so many ways.
