I won't put any 'additive' in my motor oil after what I saw on Bobistheoilguy.com. Only Techron for the gas and Transmedic when I did the fluid/filter change for the "reverse slam".

Ones I use:

MMO in oil on occasion about 500 miles before an oil change.

Techron fuel system cleaner - in the the fuel (duh).

Occasional use of fuel system dryer (e.g Heet) in cold weather to prevent gas line freeze.

Occasionally use CD-2 oil additive - oil detergent type if I extended beyond my normal oil change interval.

Stay away from:

Any of the products with PTFE (e.g. Slick-50).

Any of the oil burning additives (e.g. STP oil treatment).

Fuel system cleaners other than Techron and Seafoam.

Never! Oh, god no...

Oil Stabilizer: Why? Gums up hydraulic lifters, kills fuel economy
Octane Boost: Only good if you like red ash on sparkplugs. Otherwise, doesn't work for... Um... Yeah.
Oil Additives: Yeah... It's called AN OIL CHANGE. I do it every month.

I add either 1 bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner or 1/2 bottle of RedLine fuel system cleaner into the gasoline tank at the gasoline station before filling up, around each oil and oil filter change. Then I try to run the gasoline tank down to about 1/8 full before filling up again. I try to time this as best I can so that I get down to 1/8 of a tank about the time the oil change is due.

I don't add anything to the oil.

You guys that put MMO in the oil before an oil change how much are you adding?
1 cup....1 pint....1 quart or replacing what blown through the engine.

Are you using the MMO for sludge removal or to help with the rings and valve seats?

I've also used both of these products with great results. Other than MMO, I say away from oil additives.

I just fill it up to the FULL line when ever I check oil.

I do the MMO in fuel and oil maybe monthly. I also just did the Auto RX treatment. The Auto RX definitely removed a ton of sludge from the engine.

The only kind of 'additive" I use is Redline's Water Wetter in my coolant tank...
Oh, and I use nitrous, but is that considered an additive or just a power adder?? hehehehe

If only Redline made "Oily Oiler"

I forgot to mention that I also use the Water Wetter. Red Line makes pretty good stuff straight across the board. A little pricey, though.

I have used Berrymans B12 for the piston soak too, but you HAVE to drain the oil right afterward. The MMO can sit happy in the crankcase for a while without concern.

MMO just plain smells better

Oh yes, I forgot too! Each October I change the coolant in my cars and each April I add RedLine Water Wetter. Good stuff and it works!

Good point. I should have added a spot for coolant additives.
