![]() Hi,
I keep getting error codes P0A06 (believe this is aux electric water pump) and P1A6E (fail to restart). When codes register, Hybrid function disabled. First stop, engine restarts with normal starter instead of Motor/Generator, after that does not auto-stop. Have cleared codes once, they returned. My cheap code reader could not pick up. Went to Advance Auto and they read these codes. They said they were dealer specific. Would a failure of the pump disable the hybrid system? Need help please. Only 80K miles on this Vue

![]() While you may have 80k miles on a 12yr old hybrid Vue, electronics outside The EFI system, body, xmission, airbag and abs/tc/esc systems makes this more complicated for any diyer attempting to correct problems. Unless you have alldata.diy or Mitchell online access to service manuals, your options are member help, visiting GM, finding a repair shop capable of advanced electronics diagnosing/troubleshooting or seek specialists in auto electric/electronics systems including GM hybrid knowledge. (emphasis on advanced electronics)
Just an initial google search; P0A06 https://www.engine-codes.com/p0a06.html P1A6E https://www.engine-codes.com/p1a6e.html The two error codes are manufacturer specific and a reason many generic readers are unable to decode them. Generic readers decode universal error codes related to common emissions problems. I'm in the same boat with an occasional wrench indicator turning on with harsh shifts until engine restart to reset a fleeting problem. My reader can't decode errors that turned on the wrench indicator. I bought another reader for this purpose to read any other error codes my L300 generates. It found and displayed history codes related to the hard xmission shifts so it verified its cost to have a better reader. Plus I was able to program new remotes with it without going to GM.

![]() Replaced aux water pump. Reset codes. Test drove yesterday: no codes, hybrid function working well, auto-stop working very well (even quieter than before; wondering if old pump had been binding when first starting). Tested old pump; will not rotate; bad. Incidentally, the pump is no longer available from GM and could not find PN with third parties. Website shows it would have cost $215. Found similar new pump on Ebay (GM 25774433) for $25. Swapped rubber mount from old pump to new. Bosch PN on plastic pump housing same between old and new; connector the same. Seems to work well. Will re-post if code comes back.
