06 Fuel Pump Relay Blowing Fuse
I'm currently diagnosing a 2006 Vue with a crack, no start condition. I believe the fuel pump is the issue. We don't hear it when turning the key to on, so in line with others posters suggestions I am jumping the fuel pump relay to force it on.
The only thing is when I do that it blows the fuel pump fuse. I've tried it three times with the result being pretty consistent.
Does this suggest a short? Can any one lend any suggestions or advice thanks.
To paint a larger picture:
We changed out the fuel pump thinking it was bad, but all symptoms remain.
No odb codes, it is unable to connect to the ecm.
Radio and other electronics seem ok.
Have yet to check for spark will do that soon.

Re: 06 Fuel Pump Relay Blowing Fuse
What two relay terminal sockets were jumpered to blow the pump fuse? Be specific as there are only four pinouts - two for the pump command signal and two for the 12v power to the pump. Each relay should have pinout info. You can always check for fuel pressure, either manually or with a fuel pressure gauge. Manually depressing the fuel test valve after turning on ignition should result in a pressurized spray of fuel (cover with a rag to catch over spray) or immediate pressure display on a f/p gauge connected to it. Fuel pumps are quiet and special attention is needed to determine the hum/hiss sounds of pump operation if you're not familiar with pump sounds.
The bcm is the gateway for OBD II communications to a reader, not the ecm. The OBD II port is fused. Check for a blown fuse in the interior fuse panel(s). If you jumpered the fuel pump relay terminals incorrectly, you may have sent 12v to the ecm damaging it. Fuses cannot protect everything if inadvertently jumpering incorrect terminals. Service manuals do not cover mistakes where diyers and others try short cuts in troubleshooting. Advanced electrical and electronic skills with knowledge of wiring schematics help separate knowledgeable from uninformed individuals.
If you get past any mistakes and find fuel pump and pressure, move on. There are other suggestions to follow up in troubleshooting EFI systems.
