2000 SL2
2006 VUE 2.2L
Default Top plug for manual transmission

Although the owners manual says the oil in the manual transmission never has to be changed, I would like to do so. Is the top plug full screw, 1/4 turn and pull or just pull? Does it also have a dip stick or do I just rely on the side plug?

It is a full screw cap. No dip stick.

2003 VUE 2.2L
Default Re: Top plug for manual transmission

The DRAIN and FILL LEVEL plugs are on the side. You can get to them from the drivers side wheel well.

You can fill it from the top, but remove the fill level plug, when fluid starts coming out of the fill level, then that is the proper level.

NOTE, On mine, the drain plug didn't have a washer, and would leak a tiny bit, I took the drain plug back off and installed an aluminum washer to seal it.

I think the fill plug has an o-ring.
