2008 Astra XR
Default LED that work

So a while back i bought some LED headlight bulbs for my car. They worked for a while but would always end up burning out after 6 months or so. The company I got them from had a lifetime warranty but I got tired of them burning out so I went back to regular halogen bulbs. Does anyone have an suggestions for some decent LED lights that are plug and play? I dont know a lot about wiring, but it wouldnt be issue if I absolutely had to. Just want something that would be easy to install.

Not familiar with Astras so I would ask a few questions about your lighting before proceeding with light mods.

Are your daytime running lights using low beam, high beam or turn signals?

Presuming you're asking about upgrading low beams depends on whether or not they're used as DRLs. If low beams aren't used as DRLs, the next question is are they reflector or projector light housings? Reflectors are larger diameter than the smaller diameter projectors. You can see the lamps in reflectors but cannot see lamps in projectors. Each light housing has its pros and cons with adapting led or hid lamps. If low beams are used as DRLs, this may complicate using other lamps than stock halogens.

As you found out, led lights aren't guaranteed to last, especially if they're prone to overheating. It's buyer beware when modifying from halogen to led or hid lighting.

You would be better off getting a quality HID canbus kit for roughly the same price and you will have better output. Been using HID in my astra for over 6 years now with no issues. Finally burnt out a ballast this year!

LED's are great for vehicles designed for them optics-wise, or in a vehicle where you replace the entire assembly with a complete unit.

I did that with both my Jeep Wrangler and two of my Harley's (coincidentally uses the same 7" size bulb and pigtail) but kept with HID's on my XR. No issues.

Any specific brand? 6 years is an insane amount of time before burnout.

Sorry about the late reply, just moved into a new place and haven't been on my computer since.

I used the hylux canbus with Morimoto bulbs
