2004 VUE 2.2L
Default No rear bump stops

So I bought new rear power control arms that hold the springs, and they didnít have that hole for the bump stop to be screwed into. Contacted the place I bought them for since they were made for my year (2004) Saturn Vue and they said the parts were correct but they never saw any that had them before.

Now, the whole unit conforms to the stock one I had, all the lengths and everything match up except that missing hole and the mount for the shock is slightly off, but I donít think that is much a big deal as it has room to go in just fine. Should I install without the bumpstops or is that going to damage the shock or where it mounts to the body if I bottom out? Was thinking of just drilling a hole in the middle for it to sit in. Thoughts?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Are you referring to the two N2 gas struts that hold the hatch up? If so, just unscrew the piston side socket and slip your old rubber bump stop on to the piston. I don't think it would hurt if you left them off either.

Yup, that makes more sense. My thinking must have been influenced by my recent experience replacing the N2 struts for the rear hatch.

Went to the junk yard for a bolt to replace one for the front bearing hub (had rounded the head). Figured I wasn't going to get away without spending a minimum of $10 so I found two struts that appeared to have been recently replaced. The replacement struts didn't have the rubber sleeve (bumper) on the piston that the original ones had. So I took them off the old and put them onto the replacements.
