Default Saturnitis

That is - afflicted by Saturns.

In other words - how bad a case do you have?

Mine I fear is chronic - perhaps even terminal.

Tomorrow my SO and I are going to look at a 96 SC2. Manual. Green. 149,000 miles.
Rust free. Black cloth interior. $1200. It will replace her 96 SC2 she bought new, and put 340,0000 miles on - til terminal rust retired it.

Should we buy it (I suspect we will) it will get it' s " fleet number" we by necessity assign to our cars.

It will be #19.

( all told we still have 12 - with only 4 being parts cars)

What' s your number?

Holy Christ that's a lot of cars. I only have my beautiful 70k miles '01 SL with a manual transmission. It's going to be my one and only car until it dies but I hope that will not occur any time soon!

Currently, I only have one Saturn. If I had the space to keep more than one car though, I'd defiantly have at least one other one. Since I can't though I just spend way to much money on old Saturn merch/promotional things that come up on ebay.

I have 2, both are 1995 SC2s, and the current daily driver is my 7th Saturn. It's become not only transportation and a little bit of a hobby, but I find that new cars have features that can be annoying. All the dings, computer voices, and music starting when I don't want it to are distracting and just increase the driver workload.

My S-series fever broke a few years back. They are great cars, but most are pretty well depleted. Mine was getting close to not passing CA emissions testing as the state continually increased the standards, so I smogged it one last time last spring and donated it to charity.

Did you get your hands on one of my EGR adapter plates yet? It lets you use a 2nd/3rd gen head or engine with the vacuum EGR valve. I think I have 3 left.

We bought #19.

It' s a Nevada car - and about as rust free as you'll get.

Big bonus - the owner ( 2nd) was a GM engineer - and a certified mechanic - who is a hobby gear- head. He owns several cool vintage cars and trucks. Beaucoup new parts - struts, control arms - alignment - radiator, heater core - ect...

149,000 miles - only real problem is a crack in the windshield and a couple cosmetic dings - hangar rash from the look of it.

$1000 cash.

The SO drove it the 2 1/2 hours home. Smooth sailing - no smoke.

That makes 9 drivers.....

( only three registered at a time)

I avoid the vacuum EGR sl2's like the plauge! Not a fan of them, so I try to stay 1994 with the cali emissions or 1995.

1995 SC2
Default Re: Saturnitis

I have only my 1995 Saturn SC2, and I am perfectly content with my little, plastic oil burner. I have always loved pop-up headlights, and I can't stand rust on anything(especially bolts and screws), let alone the body of a car.

Personally, I prefer the first-gens, simply because they were better cars than the 2nd/3rd Gens.

As far as the cars, themselves, I do like all the generations as recommended for someone needing a used car that is reliable. Every car has its share of problems, and dropping a quart of oil is certainly easier than dropping an engine or transmission(typically transmission drops only apply to "dependable Dodge products".....).
